3. Our Role as List Manager, Facilitator and Secure Delivery Intermediary
In certain circumstances, UK List & Press Services Ltd acts as a list manager and commercial facilitator in relation to third-party data products, including home-mover and lifestyle-based data services.
Our role may include promoting data products to business users, facilitating contractual and commercial arrangements, and supporting the secure delivery of data from a data owner to an authorised business customer.
Secure Delivery via SFTP
In some cases, third-party data owners may deliver datasets to secure file transfer systems (SFTP) operated by us, solely for the purpose of onward transmission to an identified and authorised business customer. In these circumstances:
• we do not access, analyse, profile, enrich, amend or otherwise use the contents of the data;
• we do not determine the purposes for which the data is used by the end customer;
• we do not select, segment, target or approve individual records;
• data is retained only for the minimum period necessary to complete secure delivery and then deleted, subject to limited retention for compliance purposes (see Section 7).
Where we facilitate secure delivery in this way, we act as a limited independent data controller solely in respect of secure handling, temporary storage and transmission. Responsibility for the lawful generation and downstream use of the data rests with the relevant data owner and end user, whose privacy policies apply to their respective processing activities.
